Song out of coma! traveled to France for extra care


Former Cameroon and Liverpool defender, Rigobert Song has left Cameroon for France to get extra care after suffering a stroke on Sunday, October 2.

Cameroon Health Minister, Andre Mama Fouda announced that: ‘Song has departed to Pitie Salpetriere hospital in Paris, where he will continue treatment. I am grateful to the Head of State for instructing the government to take the necessary measures to ensure that Song recovers.

‘We hail the professionalism of medical doctors in Cameroon and we continue to pray for a safe trip for Rigobert Song and that he should recover very fast.’

The 40-year-old came out of a two-day coma at Yaounde Emergency Centre on Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

The defender previously played for Liverpool, West Ham United, Metz, Lens and Galatasaray, and he was appointed as manager of the Chad national team in October 2015.

Song , who only scored five goals in 137 appearances for his country, participated in four FIFA World Cups (1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010) since his international debut on September 22, 1993 against Mexico.
