Female referee stops game to throw out sexist fan who told her to "go home and do the dishes"

A female referee stopped a football game in Spain to eject a spectator who told her to "go home and do the dishes".
Marta Galego, an official in the Catalan second division, was
overseeing the fixture between UE Valls and Cambrils when
she made a decision against the hosts.
An angry fan reacted by aiming a sexist tirade at her, but
the female referee was not prepared to take the insult lying
down.
As she later described on Catalunya Radio - in an interview
which can be heard above - Galego stopped the game and
had the supporter removed from the ground.
The official said: "In the 23rd minute of the game there was
a clash and I called it as a foul.
"A spectator called out 'go home and do the dishes' and the

rest of the crowd just fell silent."
Galego took advantage of a new directive from the Catalan
football federation, Zero Insults , which allows a referee to
stop the game and take action.
In this instance, the referee Galego spoke to the local FA
delegate for the match who threw the spectator out of the
game - he has since apologised for his behaviour.
After a three-minute stoppage, in which other fans cheered
the decision to remove the supporter from the ground, play
resumed.
"What surprised me was the reaction of everybody," reflected
Galego on Catalan Radio.
"What people before would have laughed at, now is seen as
something unacceptable and out of place.
"It’s these reactions that help us move forward as a more
respectful society.".         Mirror. Uk
