Gerard Pique offered to quit the Spanish national team
following events in Catalonia on Sunday, and the Barcelona defender was greeted by fans declaring him an "a***hole" and calling for his exit on Monday night.
Pique, 30, has joined up with Spain in Madrid on Monday and took part in training at Las Rozas - on the outskirts of the city - during the early part of the evening.
But little more than 24 hours after voting in the Catalan independence referendum, Pique - no stranger to jeers from Madridistas - was booed and insulted, and eventually the session was cut short after just 23 minutes.
“Pique, a***hole, Spain is your country…. Pique, a***hole,mleave the national team,” chanted fans, while others should “son of a b****” at the former Manchester United defender.
Others held up signs saying ‘Pique fora’ - “Pique out”, while one loan supporter held up a message on their mobile declaring ‘Pique T’estimo’ - “Pique I love you”.
