Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was prepared to walk away from the Spain national team last week, it has been revealed.
Pique openly discussed quitting international football in the wake of last week's aborted Catalan independence poll.
However, the defender featured for Spain this week after speaking with several Barca teammates about his situation.
Don Balon says Pique was so close to walking away that he penned a resignation letter which he intended to deliver to the Spanish Federation - something which he confessed to teammates within the La Roja squad.
However, after speaking with Jordi Albaand Sergio Busquets,he dropped his plans and turned out for Spain in victory over Albania last week.
