Lewandoski Scores As Bayern Munich Defeated Schalke O4

Robert Lewandowsk made amends for several glaring misses when he scored a late goal and set up another as Bayern Munich ground out victory at Schalke.
The Poland striker, who netted a hat-trick in a 6-0 home demolition of Werder Bremen on the Bundesliga's opening weekend, spurned several chances in either half before he found the back of the net with a trademark clinical finish in the 81st minute.
He then ripped through the home team's defence in stoppage time before squaring a perfect pass for substitute Joshua Kimmich, who sealed the win with an angled shot.
A well-organised Schalke frustrated the visitors for long spells and missed their best chance early in the second half when Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar rattled the crossbar with a screaming shot from 30 metres.

Despite having several key players injured, Bayern's new coach Carlo Ancelotti was still spoilt for choice from a deep squad and handed Renato Sanches his debut following the midfielder's 35-million euro ($39.8 million) close-season move from Benfica.
Yet the 19-year-old, who helped Portugal win Euro 2016, struggled in his maiden appearance for Bayern as did his team mates against a packed Schalke midfield.

Lewandowski skewed a shot wide in the first half and shot over an empty net from four metres in the second before he finally broke the deadlock.

Pep Guardiola Blasts Ibrahimovic

The Manchester City boss turned the tables on Ibrahimovic as the pair prepare to come face-to-face today in an explosive derby showdown.
The United striker was signed for Barcelona by Guardiola but the move turned sour and the Swede was axed before being sold to AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic responded by slamming Guardiola in his controversial autobiography.
But the Spaniard has hit back and insisted he was always up front with 34-year-old and would never criticise somebody when they didn’t have the chance to respond.
Guardiola said: “He explained in his book about what he believes. Always I was clear, I spoke with him always face to face - always.
“I never used the media to explain what I wanted from Zlatan on the pitch, never.
“The people can say many, many things, but I was so clear and direct to him.”
The duo were close friends when they first linked up when Swede arrived from Inter Milan in 2009.
But after leaving the Nou Camp Ibrahimovic, who joined United in the summer, blasted the Spaniard as a “spineless coward” who treated him like “a disturbance and an alien.

Arsena Wenger: Mustafi And Perez Are In Good Shape
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is delighted with the form of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez in training.
The pair arrived in the final days of the summer transfer window as Wenger splashed £52million to reinforce his squad ahead of the new season.

Asked how the pair had settled, the Frenchman said: "Very quickly and very well, but the real test is the games so we will see and know very soon.
What they do in training is promising. They have the focus and the quality in training that we expected and on that front I'm very happy."
Wenger added: “Mustafi is young but he already has lots of experience, international experience.
“Perez is versatile, he can play on the flank and through the middle of course.
“Not only can he score goals but also provide a good number of assists.
“He is versatile and has some interesting qualities.

Valencia Makes Derby, Thanks To Private Jet
Manchester United fullback Antonio Valencia has made a long haul flight to make today's derby against Manchester City.
The Sun says he made an extraordinary long-haul dash to get back in time for the Manchester derby.

Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho was so desperate for his in-form right-back to feature the club even laid on a PRIVATE JET.

Valencia finished playing for Ecuador in Peru at 4am on Wednesday — but trained with United on Thursday morning.

He flew from Lima just hours after his country's 2-1 defeat to catch the first flight to Madrid.
United then had a private jet waiting on the runway in Spain to whisk him straight back to Manchester.
