Wimbledon Final 2018: Angelique Kerber Beats Serena Williams To win Title


Angelique Kerber beat 7-time champion Serena Williams in straight sets to win her first Wimbledon title.

The German 11th seed, 30, beat the 23-time Grand Slam champion 6-3 6-3 to add this title to her 2016 Australian Open and US Open crowns.

Kerber broke Serena's serve in the first game of the match but Serena bounced back to level things up at 3-3. From there Kerber won three games on the bounce to take the first set.


Williams made as many as 25 unforced errors and couldn't stage a comeback against the clinical German. Kerber broke Serena's serve in the 7th game of the 2nd set and served the match out. This is her 4th win against Serena in 10 meetings.
