Real Madrid close to signing Chelsea No.1 Goalkeeper

European champions Real Madrid are very close to their next signing; none other than Chelsea No.1 Thibaut Courtois.

The golden glove winner at the just concluded World Cup in Russia,
in fact, will be the next to arrive if nothing goes wrong.

Contacts with Chelsea are very
advanced while the goalkeeper is happy to return to Madrid to be closer to his family.

Despite the fact that the club very
seriously considered the option to
continue with the three goalkeepers that are already in the squad; Keylor Navas, Kiko Casilla and Lunin, the exhibition of Courtois with Belgium on the one hand, and the fact that the price has been adjusted to what Madrid always thought should be spent on a goalkeeper (no more than 40 million euros), has radically changed their outlook.

Chelsea, aware that his contract ends
next June, and that the player already
made it clear that he wasn't planning to renew and wanted to leave, have been forced to negotiate and accept a lower offer than they would've liked.

The problem for the English club is to
find a replacement before allowing
Courtois to leave, and still nothing is finalised.

Alisson, the goalkeeper of Roma who
was also on Madrid's agenda, was discarded long ago because of his high price.

Liverpool are a serious competitor and their latest offer improves that of
Roman Abramovich.

Courtois wants to return to Madrid and has said this for a long time publicly.

Despite his Atletico past, it's a golden
opportunity for him, and at 26, Courtois also fits in with what Madrid have been looking for, for a long time in goal; a keeper with a future, given that Keylor is already 31 years old.
