Nigerian And Man City Striker Fined for Illegal Cash Import into Ukraine

Shakhtar Donetsk's Nigerian striker Olanrewaju Kayode was fined over €66 for attempting to bring €26,500 cash into Ukraine without declaring it.

According to the Ukrainian legislation, no more than €10,000 in cash can be brought into the country without a declaration being made.

The Man City  loanee Kayode went through the "green corridor" - intended for persons who do not file a declaration - at Kyiv's Boryspil airport. However, in conversation with customs officials, he admitted that he had "€10,000-20,000 in cash".

During the audit, the exact amount established was €26,500. Olarenwaju was given €10,000 and the rest were seized. Kayode was later fined about 2,000 hryvnyas [about €66] and the retained money was returned to him.

The 24-year-old joined Shakhtar in early March from Manchester City on loan until the end of the season.
