Super Eagles move up five places in the latest FIFA Rankings

Super Eagles are expected to move up five spots in the next Fifa rankings that will be released by the governing body of association football on Thursday, April 12.

Based on the prognosis tools, the Nigerian national team will occupy the 47th position when the ranking is updated next month and this can be attributed to their 1-0 win over Poland, who are sixth in the latest Fifa rankings.

With a possible ranking point of 635, the Super Eagles will replace Cameroon as the sixth best team in Africa and Egypt who are fifth in Africa are just ahead by one point, meaning the three-time African champs would have ranked higher if they were at full strength against Serbia on Tuesday, March 27.

Nigeria's foes at the 2018 World Cup Argentina, Croatia and Iceland are expected to plummet from their current positions, with the South Americans dropping to number five due to their 6-1 loss to Spain.

Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Morocco and Egypt are the top ranked African teams in that order, while Germany and Brazil are first and second respectively in the world, followed by Belgium and Portugal.
