Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal diagnosed with heart problem
Real Madrid full back Dani Carvajal has been ruled out of Sunday's La Liga game with Espanyol after being diagnosed with a viral infection of the heart.
The 25-year-old defender is also expected to miss Spain's upcoming World Cup qualifying games with Albania and Israel as his heart condition is monitored.
The La Liga club announced the news on their website with a statement that read: "Following tests carried out on Dani Carvajal, he has been diagnosed with a viral pericardium infection. His recovery will continue to be assessed."
Carvajal, who recently signed a contract extension at Real until June 2022, has played 167 times for the Spanish club, winning the Champions League three times along with La Liga and Copa del Rey titles.
