HOMEGROWN TABLE: English teams with the most English players this season

Only four Premier League clubs have given English players more than 50% of game time in the opening seven matches of the 2016/17 season.

A study conducted by the CIES Football Observatory shows that less than a handful of sides in England's top flight give local players opportunities as foreigners continue to take over the competition.

According to the study, AFC Bournemouth have handed English players 81% of minutes so far this term which is a testament to young manager Eddie Howe, who has kept his playing group relatively homegrown.

Next on the list is Sean Dyche's Burnley on 62%, while Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace has had 53% of it's game time controlled by Englishmen. Everton, despite having a Dutch manager in Ronald Koeman, are fourth on 52%.

At the other end of the scale, Walter Mazzarri's Watford has given English players a mere 9% of minutes while fellow Italian Antonio Conte has offered a paltry 16% to Chelsea's local boys.
Pep Guardiola's Manchester City also have little time for the UK bred while Arsene Wenger , as always, uses a fairly solid base of foreign players.
