We played football like hell

Liverpool played "football like hell" for victory at Chelsea, says manager Jurgen Klopp.

Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson struck in the first half to put Liverpool 2-0 up after 31 minutes, with Antonio Conte's Chelsea side unable to deal with the visitors' pace or movement.

Chelsea rallied as Diego Costa struck on the hour-mark, but it was not enough to make up for a desperately poor start from the Blues on David Luiz's second debut for the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Klopp said: "It was satisfying of course. From the first second we had unbelievably good movement.

"We were quick in mind. We did really well. We deserved the lead at half-time.

"We have to learn how to manage the game plan. So often this season Chelsea scored in the last few seconds with a direct style.

"But I can't remember too many chances from them. We had a few moments where we weren't so good but that's normal against a good team.

"We played football like hell. It was really nice to watch. In the second half it was a bit more difficult. After their goal, we managed it well."

“There is no kind of Klopp football. We adapt the quality to the skills of the player, and try and win a lot of games of football.

“I’ve heard the word risk too often. But then the other players play this kind of football, so that’s nice. We played last time here like this after only three weeks together. We want to win football games.”

The win continues Liverpool’s impressive start to the season after they smashed four at Arsenal and at home to champions Leicester.

Conte, however, has warned his players that they repeat last season’s disastrous campaign - which saw them finish outside the Champions League places - unless they buck their ideas up.

The Blues have still only kept just one clean sheet at home in the Premier League since JANUARY and have slipped down to third.

Conte said: “I don’t want to repeat a bad season like last year. I don’t want that.
“I think that this season, the manager, the players, all the people who work for Chelsea must take their responsibility. Because, I repeat, we win together, we lose together. This is very important.

“I repeat, when you finish the season in 10th place, something strange is there. It’s not natural. It’s not simple.

“When you finish in 10th place, it means that you have to work very hard to improve to make sure you don’t repeat the bad season.”
